What is Remedial Massage?

Remedial Massage is a type of therapy used to remedy issues within the body. It involves a clinical approach to treating affected areas of the body where soft tissue dysfunction or damage is present. A detailed assessment is done prior to any treatment starting, to ensure the right treatment is provided to the correct part of the body.

Remedial Massage Techniques

The term Remedial encompasses massage techniques from deep tissue, trigger point, stretching and other massage styles to relieve muscular pain and soreness within the body. Remedial Massage may be firm, gentle or shallow, depending on the muscular problem and the client’s preference. Each client is different and it can sometimes take a variety of techniques to alleviate muscular pain and soreness.

Tight muscles can cause restricted range of motion within the body. If the issue is more severe, pain can radiate into other areas of the body and can even cause chronic headaches and other muscular issues if left untreated.

How often should I have a Remedial Massage?

A Massage Therapist will tailor a treatment plan to address problem areas in accordance with clients’ needs.

Not all problems areas are the same, therefore they cannot be treated the same. Duration of treatment is dependent on individual needs.

Will a Remedial Massage fix everything?

A Remedial Massage Therapist is trained to determine areas of significant soft tissue dysfunction and to treat problematic areas in order to relieve muscle tension within the body. A Remedial Massage will help with pain and condition management. We also provide education to assist clients to better understand their issue/s and stretches/tips to assist in reducing compounding issues.
